White Russian is a sativa-dominant hybrid marijuana strain made by crossing White Widow with AK-47, created by Serious Seeds in the Netherlands during the 1990s. At one point in time, White Russian was considered to be the strongest weed strain in the world and won 1st place in the 'Best Overall' category at the 1996 High Times Cannabis Cup. In an independent seed comparison in the UK in which over 150 different seed strains were grown, White Russian proved to be the most potent plant of this test grow with 22% THC.
Buds of White Russian tend to be small to medium in size with bud structure more typical of sativa strains, featuring loosely-clustered, fluffy leaves that are pale green and may be moderately to thoroughly covered in frosty trichomes like parent strain White Widow. White Russian is extremely fragrant with fruity, sweet and skunky aromas, offering a complex aroma that weaves together earthy, spicy, and sweet notes with a similarly multifaceted flavor that offers a rich tapestry of tastes. White Russian can be cultivated indoors, outdoors and in greenhouses with a flowering time of approximately 53-63 days indoors and indoor yields of 350-500 g/m². Outdoors, plants are ready for harvest in mid to late October. Plants may be user-friendly for even novices to grow as the strain's hearty genetics make it more resistant to adverse growing conditions, though growing outdoors requires consistently warm temperature and direct sunlight. Plants are relatively short and bushy for a sativa-dominant variety, reaching between 3 and 4 feet tall when grown indoors. It's an easy to grow strain which doesn't become too leafy. New growers must beware as this can be quite a difficult strain to take on during first few crops and growers need to educate themselves on growing techniques.
