Yumbolt

Indica

Also known as: Yumboldt

Yumbolt Strain Overview

Yumbolt (also spelled Yumboldt) is an extremely rare 100% pure indica strain hailing from Humboldt County in California with unknown genetics due to breeder secrecy and a THC level ranging from 12-24% on average, depending on the breeder. This strain made its mark within the cannabis world when it won the High Times Cannabis Cup in 2001, having slowly travelled the world over time - originally from Afghanistan, it moved to California, and later arrived in Holland. Most sources cite its genetic lineage as originating from two landrace strains – Afghani and Himalayan, having somehow found its way to California, and more specifically, the county of Humboldt.

According to breeding documentation, this strain was developed from an Afghani landrace and was naturalized in the mountains of Humboldt County, California, for over thirty years before coming to Holland where it achieved fame after winning the 2001 High Times Cannabis Cup. Yumbolt is a proud winner of the best Indica strain at the 2001 Cannabis Cup, with a mysterious heritage connected to landrace variants, making this multi-award-winning strain as close to nature as possible. This strain does not produce any distinct buds or flowers, but rather kicks out branched buds that look like pillars. The buds are small, dense, neon green and completely covered in orange hairs and a fine layer of trichomes, with sparse olive green leaves and undertones, dripping with sweet sticky resin.

Yumbolt Strain Growing Information

The strain can be cultivated in both indoor and outdoor environments, with indoor plants featuring a flowering period of roughly 9 weeks, and outdoor plants reaching harvest time during mid October. Yumbolt seeds have a flowering period of 8-10 weeks. This strain thrives in a Mediterranean climate characterized by warm temperatures, abundant sunshine, and low humidity, ideally grown in an outdoor setting to reach its full potential, with plants typically reaching around 0 to 4 feet tall, making it suitable for indoor cultivation as well with proper lighting. It has a large stem that supports its satellite branches and can be grown both indoors and outdoors, obtaining similar production but with higher yield when fed with all the hours of sunshine outdoors. Indoor growers can expect around 400 grams per square meter, while outdoor cultivators can achieve higher yields of approximately 500 grams per plant. This strain is considered moderately easy to grow and hardy, suitable for both novice and experienced growers.
