Zamal Reunion
Also known as: Reunion Zamal, Mangu Karot
Zamal Reunion Strain Overview
Zamal Reunion, also known as "Reunion Zamal," is a 100% pure sativa strain that is native to Reunion Island, a small isle located east of Madagascar. This strain reached Reunion Island and acclimatized to the point of growing spontaneously as a pure landrace for over two centuries. Many slaves were sent to Reunion Island to work on sugar and coffee farms, and these are the people who introduced cannabis seeds for cultivation and consumption. It is accepted that the slaves (where the name Zamal comes from) from Africa and India brought to Reunion Island different varieties of Zamal, traditionally used with spiritual, but also medicinal purposes.
Zamal Reunion is a development from the original landrace strain; it's better suited for ganja growers and consumers in the modern day. It is said that Zamal has been known to take characteristics from its surrounding habitat and present these in its terpenes. Zamal found among lemon trees can take on lemony characteristics and the same has been said of the plant growing close to mango trees. Zamal buds have super oversized bushy bright neon green nugs with orange undertones, lots of matching hairs and a coating of milky orange-tinted white crystal trichomes. This variety has a very typical landrace look to it; it's tall and the leaves grow wild. One should expect relatively fluffy nugs. This is normal as sativas have adapted to tropical climates by making space for the buds to evaporate the moisture that accumulates during rainy and humid seasons.

Zamal Reunion Strain Growing Information
Zamal Reunion is a sativa from Seeds of Africa and can be cultivated indoors and outdoors (Where the plants will need a flowering time of ±91 days). In its natural habitat, Zamal requires approximately 4-6 months for vegetative growth, 4 months or more for flowering, and an additional 2-3 months for curing to achieve its full potential. In Europe, Zamal's outdoor cultivation can be a little bit more complex, as it needs 3 to 4 months of flowering in order to mature; but these plants have a good resistance that allows them to go through the final phase without a problem. In an indoor grow, the grower must control the size of the plants by pruning, folding, using the SCROG or LST methods, and even cultivating them with a 12/12 light cycle from the very beginning in order to limit their height. When this strain receives plenty of light, water and nutrients, it develops large plants of great dimensions and several meters tall. Growing difficulty is considered moderate to challenging due to the long flowering time and size management requirements.
